The Statue of Christ of Havana is located in the charming village of Casablanca, across the bay from the Cuban capital. The statue was declared a National Heritage Site in 2017 and constitutes one of Havana's characteristic monuments.

The origin of the statue goes back to the promise made by Fulgencio Batista's wife: if her husband managed to get out alive from the assault on the Presidential Palace in 1957 she would have an image of Christ built that could be seen from all over the city. Batista managed to escape and take refuge in the United States, and just a week later the statue was unveiled on a hill where everyone could see it.

The statue was sculpted in Carrara marble by Cuban artist Jima Carrera, who won the design competition launched by Batista's wife. It is 20 meters high and inspires solemnity, strength and vigor. It is worth noting that its eyes are empty to give the impression that it is looking at the whole world, and not at a specific point.
