The Emilio Bacardi Moreau Provincial Museum in Santiago de Cuba, in honor of its founder, is one of the most important in the entire Cuban nation due to the valuable heritage it keeps inside.

The gallery was inaugurated in 1899 after the efforts of the then mayor of the city, Emilio Bacardí Moreau, who would never see the result of his efforts. It is located in a beautiful building with an eclectic style and neoclassical decorations; stairs allow access to the property located under a portico raised by large Corinthian columns. The city's coat of arms governs the façade, which is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular in the city.

The exhibition houses more than 23,000 pieces that are divided into three rooms: Art, History and Archeology. In the first area, this museum contains the largest art gallery in the country with works by Spanish painters such as Juan Pantoja de la Cruz and a large exhibition of Cuban painters. In the History room, what stands out the most are a series of pieces related to the Cuban war of independence and in the Architecture room, pre-Columbian objects such as tools and vessels. Some of the most prestigious exhibits are undoubtedly the mummies, an Egyptian bought by Bacardi himself, and the paracas from Peru. Pieces of great sentimental value for the Cuban people are also exhibited, such as the hammock where General Antonio Maceo lay dead, a José Martí tailcoat and a handmade torpedo built by the Mambises in the independence struggles.

Given the majesty of the museum itself and the value of its funds, it is not surprising that since 1999 it has been a National Monument of Cuba, a fundamental visit to learn more about the history and culture of this country that falls in love with everyone who has the opportunity to discover it.
