The Ron Museum in Santiago de Cuba is a space dedicated to this drink so closely linked to the Cuban people and especially to this city, considered the cradle of rum on the island. In it, you will be able to learn the process that sugar cane follows from its plantation until its sweet flavor reaches your palate.

The museum is located in the center of the city in an old eclectic and neoclassical style house that stands out among other constructions for the existence of a garden between the door of the building and the street surrounded by a large fence. This place built in 1889 has served for different purposes from private housing to Casa de la Amistad Cuba - USSR, In 1996 it was inaugurated as a Museum of Rum to show anyone who wishes the elaboration of this popular drink in the country.

Through its six rooms you can learn a bit of the history of rum, surprisingly interesting. Room 1 focuses on sugar cane, the origin of rum, how it arrives in Cuba and its production process. The second room shows us the production of the product of which in the next room we can see the different brands that exist today, highlighting the multiple varieties of Havana Club Rum, the most famous internationally. In room 4 you can find the barrels with which the rum is aged and the process of building them so that it is finally bottled, a process that is seen in the fifth room through a bottling line from the twentieth century, original machines in perfect state. The last room is divided into two parts, the first with models of the rum factories of Ron Carey and Methuselah and the second with a sample of the development of this industry in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

With this visit you will be able to know the process of making rum and many of the brands that sell it not only in Cuba but around the globe. To fully complete the experience, you can buy a bottle in their store and taste a glass of rum in the tavern, the icing on the tour.
