Morón was founded in 1643 and is located in the northern part of Ciego de Ávila province, in one of the main tourist regions in Cuba. This locality is located very close to the Jardines del Rey, one of the most popular tourist attractions.

The municipality stands out for having a great deal of interesting places associated with natural environments of unparalleled beauty, the outdoor leisure activities it offers and its paradisiacal beaches of fine sand and turquoise waters on islands such as Cayo Coco or Cayo Guillermo. The Atlantic barrier reef runs through this fantastic archipelago.
Known as "the city of the rooster", it has even more to offer. Apart from its cultural richness, which is shown in institutions such as the Museo de Arqueología e Historia (Archeology and History Museum) it also has interesting tourist sites such as the Fábrica de tabacos El Surco (El Surco tobacco Factory) or a peculiar Criadero de cocodrilos (crocodile Farm). It's almost hundred-year-old Terminal de ferrocarriles (railroad Terminal) made it a crucial point of reference for transportation on the island at the time.
Alternatively, you can visit the Central Patria o Muerte, an old sugar factory that is still in operation and offers visitors pleasant rides on a small American steam train through its plantations.
The area has ideal places to enjoy the wildest nature, including Laguna de la Leche, Laguna la Redonda or the Loma de Cunagua. Here different types of activities are organized. For example, trekking excursions along its paths, where you can explore the beauty of its nooks and crannies while contemplating the native fauna and flora of the area, or fishing for trout and sea bass in some of its lakes.
