The Cayo Saetía (Saetía Cay) is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent corners in Cuba, a small island located in the Bahía de Nipe (Nipe Bay) near Sierra del Cristal in Holguín province. It consists of a remarkable natural park 42 km2 big, linked to the mainland by a bridge, that owns green meadows, untouched caves and heavenly beaches. Apart from its mind-boggling landscapes, the cay is intriguing thanks to the wide range of species housing in the maritime as well as terrestrial environment.

How to get to Cayo Saetía, Cuba?

There are many ways to get to Cayo Saetía. The nearest international airport is the one in the city of Holguín called Aeropuerto Frank País García (Frank País García Airport), 98 km from Mayarí, the nearest town to the cay.

From the city of Holguín there are many different options to get to Cayo Saetía. One of them is a 117-kilometre route by taxi with a duration of two hours. Another recommended way is to take a coach to Guardalavaca and from there by taxi to Cayo Saetía with an estimated duration of four hours. Many rented cars also access the cay, regardless of the bad condition of the road. You have to drive very carefully on this road that has no asphalt on it.

Additionally, there are resorts in the tourist area of Guardalavaca that organise boat trips and the unbelievable experience of getting to the cay by helicopter.

What are the best accommodations in Cayo Saetía, Cuba? 

Given the fact that the Holguín people pay special attention to the total preservation of the natural park, there are no hotels in the interior of Cayo Saetía. However, some of the accommodations in the environs that give you a contact nature of this reserve are worth mentioning.
